The good life is a process, not a state of being.Carl Rogers

If you have ever wondered who and what can help and uphold you to find out from where your happiness comes, so you are in the right place. Positive Psychology is one of the most important studies and practices that fully shows the beauty and potential of human thriving. During ages people are struggling about the question of “how can I be truly happy and fulfilled?” This is the question that Positive Psychology aims to answer. So, let’s travel to this adventurous world of Positive Psychology and see what it is and how it can help people. First, we can see the roots of Positive Psychology back to Ancient Greek, to Aristotel’s concern with eudaimonia (happiness). However, in the 20th century Martin Seligman brought a fresh perspective on the human experience. Seligman and his fellow pioneers had a strong desire to explore strengths, virtues and positive emotions which are the cores of human well-being. In this endless ocean of Positive Psychology we have 3 waves and each wave has its own uniqueness and approach. We see the first wave gently appears to awaken our understanding of well-being and happiness. Like a glinting wave it emphasizes the importance of positive emotions, satisfaction with life and the stalking of happiness. Led by great pioneers such as Ed Diener and his associates, this wave inspires us to pay attention to our well-being, examining the power of positive emotions, gratitude and optimism. Going through the endless ocean the second wave rises wonderfully by showing us our strengths and virtues. Here, Christopher Peterson and Martin Sligman are the main guides who illustrate this wave as a vital aspect of flourishing. It helps us to recognize and use our strengths, values and natural potential to grow. The second wave teaches us to enrich our personality and character by strengths such as courage, wisdom and kindness. With the arrival of the third wave, it brings many questions and most importantly answers about the complexity of human existence. This wave led by Barbara Fredrickston and Corey Keyes highlight the significance of positive relationships, social connections and our impact on communities. It makes us grow and cultivate a sense of purpose and understanding, recognizing that our well-being is thriving when we support the wellbeing of others and our shared world. Today, positive psychology stands as a bright beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us that within each of us lies a great capability to grow, to shine and lastly to be fulfilled and truly happy.
